Courses at Bild-Werk-Frauenau: experimental-interdisciplinary-international
The Bild-Werk International Summer Academy offers four blocks of courses which take place from April/May to September. The courses are between one week and two and a half weeks long.
Further courses are offered in autumn or winter in the form of evening classes, short seminars or master classes.
Bild-Werk-Frauenau courses are aimed at professional artists and ambitious art enthusiasts. At the centre of the programme are the glass art courses: in glass-cutting and engraving, flat glass design and glass painting, printing from glass plates, kiln and cast glass, hot glass at the furnace and lampworking. Other courses such as painting, printing, sculpture, ceramics, wood sculpture etc., as well as voice and theatre, provide important opportunities for cross-fertilisation. Interdisciplinary courses break through the boundaries of media and material.
The course leaders are acclaimed artists from Europe and overseas and offer innovative and inspiring courses. The courses offer a lot of free space in which to develop individual artistic potential and to learn through creative international exchange. There is time and space for experimentation, spontaneity, exchange and social contact. The teaching of the technical, craft and theoretical basis for creative work takes place in well-equipped workshops: The courses take place in former glassworks buildings, which lends a special atmosphere. Accommodation for course participants can easily be found in Frauenau. Camping is possible in the grounds of the Summer Academy. (see Organisation and Conditions)
