International Summer Academy : Summer Academy Session A 2017-07-05 - 2017-07-21
Printing from Wood and Letterpress
Course fee: 760 EUR
This course is about making prints from wooden blocks. Woodcuts, from a variety of types of wood, will be explored, both those which produce highly detailed images and those producing looser, free mark making prints.
We can combine the printed pictures with letter press to create small books, a poster, or combine our work to create an illustrated calendar in a small edition! A poem such as the year-long poem by Erich Kästner "The 13 Months" may inspire us to work with colour.
We could also experiment with the “puzzle” print - where individual parts of the printing block are sawn out, inked separately with different colours and reassembled for printing. Should you wish to print an artist's book, we could also learn basic bookbinding.
The course is open to all. Please bring drawing material and work clothes.
