Rooted in the traditional glass producing area of the Bavarian-Czech borderlands Bild-Werk Frauenau has grown to be one of the most fascinating places for glass art in Europe. For more than 25 years the International Summer School puts their emphasis on international know-how. Every year in the spring and summer months more than 200 enthusiasts from all over the world meet in the midst of the Bavarian Forest. Bild-Werk enjoys a great reputation for its free atmosphere which allows each participant their space for experimentation and improvisation. Also the interdisciplinary cross-over of materials, techniques and arts is part of the concept of the academy. This means that parallel to the courses in glass there are just as many courses offered in ceramics, painting, sculpture, print, mixed media and singing.
Participants have discovered in Bild-Werk new materials or the combination of materials, and insights into the creativity to use them. Bild-Werk Frauenau is open to beginners as well as for advanced and professionals.
